Another fun question, you guys. No need to argue. Shaka was a good leader, but to the AWB so was Eugène Terre'Blanche. And if you think you would make a good leader...tell us why!

Shaka Zulu aka The Black Napoleon.
He organized a nation of people that where scattered over the land.
He had a great military mind, using battle techniques similar to those of Napoleon's, and the charge of The Light Brigade.
It was Buffalo horn or Bulls Horn technique that defeated the British at Isanshluwana, and despite the fact that the British where out numbered, the had firearms, yet more British troops than Zulu troops, died that day.
Shaka had a great mind, and I think a movie simply about him and his life should be made.

I don't have a politician, but a leader and a legend. I must say Hansie Cronje. Not only was he a great Cricketer, but a great South African team leader. Yes, he did wrong, but at the end he paid with his life. Hershell Gibbs still plays cricket, where Hansie, who did the same offense as him, was banned for life. That alone, makes him a leader. RIP Hansie Cronje!

If it can't be Nelson Mandela, then it's Jan Smuts.

General Jan Smuts. Many, many reasons. Few people still remember he was one of the founding members of the League of Nations, a forerunner of the UN.

Porgie, if you're talking about contemporary times, this is an unfair question.
All the apartheid leaders can't be counted as great, because their philosophy was flawed.
And none of the ANC leaders can be counted, because they are all criminals or terrorists. Can't wait to see how many fawning love letters you get naming Mandela.

Personally, I'd have to say Shaka Zulu. Any man that can lead and command such a vast, merciless fighting force has my admiration and respect.
