Your safest bet is to go to your local police station and report it as found property. They hold it for a period of time - normally a month and if unclaimed it becomes yours legally! It is also good because if they wish to persue it in court later, you have made an effort and obtained legal ownership so there is no course of action

You gave him be conscious in December to return %. up his stuff, and have not heard from him considering that? it is now seen abandoned, and is yours. If he comes decrease back for it later he will the two be SOL, or you could fee him for storage...(permit him take you to small claims court to get his belongings decrease back and watch the choose snigger him out of the court) yet another subject you could legally do - in case you in basic terms do no longer % the stuff around anymore (takes up too lots room, or the strategies are too painful) is to hire a storage unit and pay ONE month's hire. Notify him in writing on the day the hire is signed and tell him the place his stuff is, the place he can %. up a key, and how long he has to the two %. it up, or take over the hire on the unit. the subject is not any longer yours at that element. the owner of the storage unit is legally allowed to sell the valuables to cover the fee of the decrease back hire owed.

I only consider it abandoned if the person knew that it was at your house. If a forgetful friend left something, then that's a different story.

abandoned it's means more than 3 or 4 months! Unless they ask you to take care for them. Like a TV, or suit case.

It depends what it is. If it's an umbrella, in emergencies I would lend it to anybody. If you have unsuccessfully tried tracing the owner and it might be valuable and it's not in anybodies way, best to keep it three months at least. If it's large and expensive like a car, report it to the police.

You don't give enough information. What I can tell you is YOU MUST make a concerted effort to return the property to the rightful owner.

You have to check with them if they still want it or not, before you can consider it abandoned.

No, because you know who left it & who it belongs to.
Try to return it to them. If they tell you to keep it , then it's yours.
