Can anyone tell me if there are other communities out there besides just these two?
WoW, doesn't seem to be my kind of game.
SL, you cant even get on the server right now, it's so slow.
I think this would be fun to get into. Please let me know, thank you!

You couldn't choose 2 more different games.
WoW is hack and slash, standard MMORPG fare. There are many other games that are very similar to it.
Second Life is all about role playing and creativity. It isn't anything like the WoW-type games. If it appeals to you, you should check out the Sims online as well.
You could also go to www.mmorpg.com to get a good list of online games. The type of game that appears to appeal to you is not that well served by that site, but it is a starting point. You could ask a question about it on the forums and you could get guided to the game for you.

a lot of people like this game and i don't know why. i've experienced the creators of WoW when i was heavy into diablo ii: lord of destruction and the servers were always bogged down and the hackers were always one step ahead of them with duped items, etc. not really my idea of fun... more like my idea of frustration.
