told by dealership that this is my abs brakes. the noise is frequent when my car has just been started. it usually happens when I back up and turn the wheel about 90 degrees.

It isnt ABS making the noise. It is your brake pads that have worn down. On the pads is a small metal clip which is attached to the pad. Once the pad wears, this metal brake sensor scrapes the rotor and makes this scraping or high squeal noise. This is to tell you it is time to have new pads installed. Usually you have a short but safe time to have the repirs made. Now if they grind to a stop, this means there is no more pad material left and you hit the rotor, and now you need t oreplace the rotors as well.

sounds like one of the tires is rubbing on something when you turn the wheel when backing up
