How do I gauge my ears?

Im gonna pierce my ears in a minute, I have medicine in case of infection and I dont really care if it hurts. How should I pierce them? And how does gauging work?

Ouch! You have guts! Yeah---an apple works or half of a potato. Ice numbs the earlobe. And, like the girl above me said, just keep moving up in sizes.

to pierce them use an apple and a needle. put an apple behind your earlobe and go for it. to gauge your ears, you just keep moving up the size of your earings like a 14mm
