It worked fine one day, and now it doesn't. I checked the circuit breaker, and checked the wiring. Everything looks fine.

some wiring (aluminum) contract badly making for a loose connection on the socket,this will usually throw a breaker. Look you can buy a new one for a couple bucks or less. Best to just replace it takes all of 5 minutes

Sure the socket can go bad. Perhaps a contact in the socket is corroded or bent too low. Or maybe if it is a light socket is the bulb bad? also check the switch, is it out?

Yes, they absolutely go bad. Head to Lowe's. You can get a new outlet for under $1.

Yes they do, my dad is an electrician and I had to get him to change my socket once. Ask an electrician if you don't know what you are doing!!

to test a socket first:

lick the socket.

then:

get a paper clip.

next:

insert the paper clip into the socket...
be sure to have a bucket of water around
to put you're hand in when paperclip is in socket.

yes if wiring is ok. it just might be the socket itself just replace it with new one

you better believe it fella! not very soon as your case seems to be, but i don,t trust chineese manufactured products.i,m assuming again however it,s a safe assumption.
