Long story short. I abused some things (illegal things...) when I was younger, and this has effected my Long term & short term memory. I am not able to LEARN things without repeating them OVER AND OVER again for days... and if I stop doing that... I forget. It usually takes me a year to get good at something. Im making A's in school (miraculously) but even after I study for weeks for an exam and get the A on it, the information I studied is immediatly lost. I took a Quiz last thursday, I studied my butt off, and had it down. Aced the quiz and then was given a POP quiz on monday and couldnt remember anything... I need a good memory... what can I do to improve it. I need to learn how to LEARN things and NOT memorize them... but dont know how. Please help me.

I saw this on Dr Phil the other day. Chew gum. Play music with a rhythmic beat. and close you eyes and sway for ten meinutes a day. It helps with learning and memory. Do not eat sugar either. Chew Gum that is sugar free and no sugar in the mornings you want to eat protein and get yourself into a learning enivorment.

First of all try to get good sleep daily averaging 7 to 8 hrs. Have a good diet comprising of leafy vegetables and milk! Try to remember small and simple things. You can sharpen your memory by trying to remember important numbers, dates, names , etc. Have good exercises!!! Try meditating also. When you read something , try to read with interest and try connecting with something you like. For example : when someone is learning history , try connecting it with some story or movie, something which interests you. This way , you can learn and remember better!!!

Your bout with ilegal things in the past may not necesarily be the reason. No way to really know. There are some good self-hypnosis programs available that will reprogram your mind and you will greatly enhance your ability to memorize and retain information. I know it sounds new age and all, but it really works. You will be what you believe.

Try ginko, I have heard it's great for the memory. There might be other things (natural) that may help you too. I would go to a local health food store and ask what they recomend. Good Luck!

I took a LOT of recreational drugs during my youth and I do
not believe it had any lasting effect on me....
Are you certain that this is the problem ?
In any event....
Memory problems are not that uncommon and very very difficult
to correct / improve....
