The water isn't dirty or anything, but the carpet in the hallway outside, of the bathroom door, is saturated. How can I remedy this myself without calling in professionals?
The area that is wet is approximately 2.5 feet x 7 feet.

Shop Vac and a Fan. You may want to have the carpet cleaned because of mold potential, or replace the carpet.

Sorry to hear about the crap part. We had a water leak at the toilet and just plain water made and unbelievable problem. We ripped up the carpet and padding, put fans to the waferboard flooring which had molded. Once it was dry we pour the bleach to it, scrubbed, then dried again. You must make sure this subfloor is perfectly dry before you reinstall any kind of floor covering. We opted for linoleum tiles for sanitary and future clean-up reasons. The carpet was not an option for us ever again after this mess! Good luck!

Use a wet vacuum or rent a carpet cleaning machine and just use it to suck as much of the water up as possible. Next, get air moving over the area, warm dry air (from a heater) if possible and keep it going until you cant feel any wetness. Then, check it for the next couple of days to make sure you don't still have some moisture from your pad.

Use a wet dry shop vac to get 90% of it out and then get a powerful fan that you can direct gown onto the carpet. Put it on high speed and in a couple of hours your carpet should be dry.

Get a "wet/dry vacuum" and vacuum most of the water into the tank and empty it out. Make sure the tank is clean when you start, you do not want to mix water with dust and dirt. Then run a fan over the carpet.

You can't. Get a professional for that job, it's worth the money. Because if you let it air-dry, it will take a lot longer than if the pros suck it out and then you'll have mold growing under your carpet. Mold is dangerous to your health and even though you can't see it if it is under your carpet, it will go into the air and make you sick.

Go to the grocery store and rent one of those Steam Doctors, or just borrow a wet/dry garage vaccuum from a neighbor.
