I have been on openuniversity site and found the MBA + other programs to be interesting, though it is going to be challenging with fulltime job. I am still curious and not sure how this degree is valued being from OU. Not sure how the Business and Corporate world takes it. Not just MBA but other programs from OU, what is the reaction in corporate world.

I did an ou degree and the lecturer on the ou course told me that many uni's didn't value ou degrees.

I then used my ou degree to go on and do an ma at sheffield university where my lecturer thought they were great. So he got that wrong!

The ou is brill and is recognised. It all depends on the grades you get and how well you do in the mba etc .

The more important question is why do you want to do it? Is it for intellectual fulfillment or to improve your career prospects or both?

I've found qualifications do not always equate with a better career. It threatens the people at the top that do not have them!

The ou won't let you down- just the job market and over qualified people that saturate the market.

all ou degrees are fab in my opinion and recognised by the business world and academic community.

That's why all universities are following their approach and offering distance learning.

go for it if you feel it's for you.

The OU is a British University, and the programmes there are well structured, demanding, and generally well appreciated.

The 'corporate world' is not monolithic, and any generalisation about what 'it' thinks is bound to be wrong because there will be so much diversity of opinion. Equally, any league table drawn up today to reflect opinion on what is most highly prized now will be of limited value to you inasmuch as you will be graduating some years in the future: these things change over time!

In any event, work commitments and whatever limits your mobility will mean that you have a limited range of choices. In my view you ought to go for the course (not the institution) that offers you what you want!

Oh, and good luck!

Lets get this straight:- The Open University is a `proper` university. Whats` more it is the largest university in the world.
The students are as good as any other student in the world, to some degree they are better. They are people who are brave enough to try to get what was denied to them when they were in their early twenties. They hold down a job, some support a family, and they still study and go to tutorials and get their T.M.A`s finished on time. The degrees and qualifications they work for are equal to any other in the world. These students are equal to any other in the world. Stop knocking them! You should be proud of them and their university.
