No Bank will ever ask for email details and PayPal won't either. There is also a spoof Microsoft site that looks very much like the real thing except for bad grammar and poor spelling that gives it away immediately..If in doubt ...Dont open !! Be very carefull out there !! If any of this trash appears...don't dither ...Delete it !!

No but there are some strong clues as to how to determine if an email is a phishing email and when it could be legit.

1). The email is addressed with either your email address, or some generic address like "dear customer".

2). The link that the email gives you to login looks like the right web address but takes you to a different site. See below:

So with a simple code like this, your login link looks right but takes you somewhere different. To check, move your mouse over the link and it should display the other web address link. If this happens, its phishing.

3). Most real emails will never ask you to login but to go directly to the web site and login there.

Of course your real concern will start becoming pharming instead of phishing as this is a new technique that hackers are starting to use.

I hope this helps you with your issue.

I almost got scammed by one claiming to be PayPal, when in fact it was a spoof site trying to collect my password. I checked the address bar and it was COMPLETELY different from paypal's. Can you believe the nerve of these people?

yes i get them all the time but if you use yahoo email it tends to put most of the cr@p in the spam folder so no need to worry about them just empty it every so often
