He never toured Britain because Colonel Tom was afraid of trying to get a passport for himself, as he had an unsavory past

I also heard tales that Elvis did as he wanted and could not be dissuaded from stopping his behavior

Not true, Elvis's maternal grandparents were cousins. This meant that Elvis had terrible genetic problems when he was born. He had an enlarged heart, liver and spleen, but they didn't know this at the time as they didn't have cat scans. Elvis also suffered from an enlarged colon, called a mega-colon, this made it difficult for him to go to the bathroom and, as we all know, that's what Elvis was doing when he died. Add to that the enormous cocktail of drugs that Elvis was ingesting and you can see that all the care in the world wouldn't have saved him.

All Elvis's uncles on his mother's side died in their 40s, as did Elvis's mother. Elvis himself died at 42. Hopefully, Lisa Marie won't follow suit when she hits her 40s soon.

Elvis never toured Britain because his manager, Colonel Tom Parker, was really an illegal immigrant from Holland. If Parker left the US, he would not have been able to get back in. Also, the people around Elvis were worried about getting his guns and his drugs through customs. If Elvis stayed in the US, that wouldn't be a problem. The only shows Elvis played outside America, were some gigs in Canada in 1957.

Elivs Presley was a grown man. He had to make his own decisions in his life. Also, the incident in which Jerry Lee Lewis - who married his 14 year old cousin - might have scared him off coming to Britain. Priscilla was only 15 when Elvis hit on her.
No, I'm afraid we all have to take responsibility for our own actions and Elvis was no bigger a fool than any of us.
A pity. He was gorgeous!

On August 15, 1955 Elvis Presley was signed by 'Hank Snow Attractions', a management company jointly owned by singer Hank Snow and 'Colonel' Tom Parker. Shortly thereafter, 'Colonel' Parker took full control and recognizing the limitations of Sun Studios, negotiated a deal with RCA Victor Records who acquired Elvis' Sun contract for $35,000 on November 21, 1955.

Parker was a master promoter who wasted no time in furthering Presley's image.
As Presley's fame grew, people became interested in Parker as well. For a while he lied about his early years, claiming to have been born in Huntington, West Virginia and that he had run away at an early age to join a circus run by an uncle. The truth about his early years was revealed when his family in the Netherlands recognized him in photographs of him standing next to Elvis; it was confirmed when Parker tried to avert a lawsuit in 1982 by asserting that he was a Netherlands citizen.
He was actually born in Breda, Netherlands on June 28, 1909. Still carrying his baptism name, Andreas Cornelius van Kuijk fled his native land at about the age of 18, joined the United States Army, then changed his name to Tom Parker and became part of the circus world some time after leaving the Army. He also worked as a dogcatcher and a pet cemetery proprietor in Tampa, Florida, in the 1940s. Col. Parker died of a stroke on January 22, 1997, aged 87.
Bottom line is Yes he screwed Elvis who trusted him!

Elvis's Death
There are odd details about Elvis' death that have fed the rumors. The sketchy two-page medical examiner's report doesn't even include his weight or height (though it does note Elvis wasn't circumcised) and attributes his death to "natural causes." The autopsy report was sealed for 50 years at the request of the family.
The middle name, spelled with a single "A" on his birth certificate and many other documents, is spelled "Aaron" on the stone. Here's the position of Elvis Presley Enterprises on the discrepancy, taken from its Web site:
"Aron was the spelling the Presleys chose, apparently to make it similar to the middle name of Elvis' stillborn identical twin, Jesse Garon Presley. . . .
To believers, that extra "A" means one thing: alive.

His Lifelong Friend & Band Drummer said this:
There are many misconceptions about Elvis and the circumstances of his death. He had bone cancer. It was kept hush-hush by the family and left out of doctors reports. Elvis took prescription pills for the cancer pain. He died of a hypertensive heart attack, the same as his mother. He thought he would die when he was the same age she died. He died 4 years earlier. He did not take drugs, he took prescription pills and although he took pills, he was not a drug addict, if you have a headache or any other pain, you take a pill, that's what Elvis did!

he didn't tour Britain cos if Tom Parker left the states he wouldn't get in again as he was an immigrant.

I don't think he was left to rot he just didn't know how to deal with the pressure of fame and no-one was strong enough to help.

Did you know he died while sitting on the toilet?
He ate, drank and drugged himself to an early grave, he became addicted to drugs to keep him awake during tours then addicted to sleeping tabs to help him sleep when he was home his system took major abuse several people tried to help but to no avail. There is a great documentary on his death It was shown on Discovery before, he sat on the loo was severely constipated and basically ruptured some organs and placed too much pressure on his heart all due to his massively bad lifestyle. In all of his fame and wealth he was obviously a very unhappy man and yes the pressure of being the King was all too much I guess. Very sad.
