Assuming the external hard disk is a USB (universal serial bus) one & your PC has a spare USB slot, then you would usually just plug the USB cable in and ensure the hard disk is powered with the power adapter. Providing you are using a later version of windows e.g. Windows XP, it should just pick it up without any trouble and you'll see a new drive letter in 'My Computer' or windows explorer.

If you don't know the difference between Memory and a Hard Drive..I would suggest you do it very carefully.Read the instructions on your external hard drive and follow them to the letter..

You cannot install external memory unless you are talking about a storage device? All RAM is installed within a PC

Open up the Box
Locate the Slots for memory
Insert memory
Close Box
Switch back on-Oops!!
SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT A MAC!
