They test everyone for STDs when they're pregnant because if you do it can mess up fetal development or be passed on during labor.
If you don't have one, one wont magically appear. However, things like chlamidiya (sp?) can live dormant in you for years, and men can pass it on to you without ever showing symptoms themselves. You and our partner may feel totally healthy for years and still be carrying chlamidiya. However, when you're pregnant, it may come out of dormancy, and either way you could pass it to your baby.

Definite bull. Unless you already had an STD, you won't come up positive for anything but pregnancy. You should be tested for STDs when you find out you're pregnant anyways. I have a friend who got something from a contaminated testing needle.

The only reason that you would come up positive for an STD is if you actually have one. And, guess what? Pregnancy does NOT cause you to get STD's. Is it possible that this is a line of crap that her husband or boyfriend told her because he is cheating on her and she tested positive for something?

That's pretty funny actually! When you're pregnant you'll come up positive for pregnancy.....that's it. STD's are a league of their own and not affiiliated in any way whatsoever with pregnancy. She needs to do some research and figure out where she got it from and who she gave it too.

I am due Oct 29 with my 3rd and never came up positive with an std during any of my pregnancies. An std is exactly what it stands for, a sexually transmitted disease. That is a bunch of bullsh*t!!

The only way you'd test positive for STD's is if you have on, however you may have a positive result on you r pap for cervical cancer, but these results are usually due to hormones. If its positive once, they'll retest as you're further along .

It's bullsh*t. You'll test as being pregnant. Only std if you've been infected, not because you're pregnant.
Talk to your doctor and see and if we're right, I'll bet you that we are.

And babies are born in a cabbage patch right? It's bullshit, and If SHE tested positive for an STD she will more than likely pass it on to her baby when it is born...Nice gift for a mom to give an innocent baby isn't it?
