If you two have chemistry, then you should have no problem getting him. Race should not be an issue (assuming that your co-teacher isn't a racist idiot like a 'certain someone' who has answered your question first). It might help if you let him know how you feel :) Good luck :)

My suggestion would be try teaching and helping him speak your native language rather than insisting on speaking English all the time. Even though most foreigners are polite about it, it's really annoying.
