Yea I did and yes I did realize it. It took a while as I was seeking my mothers approval, which I never rec'd and one day I just got sick of it and said "Lilbit quit living your life for everyone else and learn to live your life for yourself", and low and behold here I am futher than I would have ever been sitting around waiting for my mother's approval I figured at almost 30 years old if I haven't rec'd it yet, chances are I never will and learned to do for myself and no one else.

I never had the feeling to seek for any person's approval. For some reason, all my life I just never really gave a damn about what people thought of me. I am my own individual self, I happen to love the hell of me and if people can't except me for me then I would say to myself either I didn't care or too bad! I think if you love yourself you don't need to seek approval of anyone. You need to approve of yourself. Because no matter what you do, where you go, what you wear, how elegantly you speak, all those good things that a person does to keep their standards high, there is always going to be some person out there that doesn't care for you. And that's why it's important to care about you first.

I do not deny that I do, at times, seek approval without realising.
I do believe that it is an innate need of human behaviour of not being an outcasts, that drive us constantly seek assurance.
I try to get over it by building up my self-assurance mechanism, but might not always work. So, only sometimes I fight the urge...
Cheers.

I think everyone does. It is just inside of us. I know I do. I think it is natural and will always be there. I was forced to become a stay at home mom and found that I had lots of time alone which helped me not to feel the need for approval so much.. I guess I learned to accept myself for me.

I think we all want approval, if we are honest about it. Being needy and obvious, well, that's another thing. Sometimes it inspires me to do better, of course, but pleasing myself is infinitely more difficult.

yes. Isn't that human nature though? To win the respect of our peers. Once you win them over, you gain a sort of power over people, and power is something everyone craves.

Yes, I think I have done this. With age, it gets better.
I still fight it. You can't always make everyone, including yourself, happy.

I think everyone does. I don't fight it anymore. It is just one of those battles that just can't be won.
