Berkshire owns stock in foreign companies (principally in the UK, China and Isreal). As far as I recall none of the companies owned by Berkshire operate abroad (ie: it is not possible to buy GEICO insurance in Europe).

Yes. It is starting to buy businesses abroad more aggressively than it has done in the past.
