The USA should stay out of everyone else's business, and worry about our own problems.

Washington said your comments in his farewell address.

At the time George Washington was President, the country had only 13 states, "new" land to be explored, no telephone, to television, no cars, no planes, no doplar radar, no missiles, no computers, no internet, the dentist and the doctor were the same guy, women were subserviant, Blacks were slaves, Native Americans were called Indians, and George Washington couldve stayed President as long as he wanted.

If you think we should want to go back to that, you are sorely mistaken.

The rest of the world is no longer as distant as it once was. Advancements in technology have made our country and others "closer" to one another whether by travel, news and tv media, or communication. Pictures of attrocities along with news of suffering and successes as well as medical and technological discoveries have given everyone a vested interest in what goes on in the world.

You cannot ignore it at the risk of everyone else advancing forward beyond what you know. You simply can't afford to pretend the rest of the world does not exist.

With that in mind, world politics become increasingly important, but there needs to be a realization that every country is in competition in one avenue or another, so the answer is "yes", the "outside" world effect our policies.

Whether or not our fingers are "too deep" depends on how much people believe we can afford to spend, and I am sure the views will reflect that.

Fitforlife is delusional.
How many schools we could build is ridiculous if the schools we are building still cannot teach to the same standards we used to achieve.
The homeless problem- not all homeless people are there by tragedy, some choose that life- whether they were too proud to seek help or simply didnt want to deal with the mess they made.

More money does not equate to more success in dealing with issues like schools, homeless, finding cures, and higher education. The schools are still broken, the homeless are still there, finding cures is still ongoing, there are still opportunities for higher education, and life still goes on.

What he implies he knows is that if America just took care of itself there would not have been a 9/11. What he does not know is that if America just took care of itself, there would be no America.

The United States has tried to stay out of world affairs. If you remember history, we tried to stay out of world war 1 & 2 but we were brought into these events. Comedian Robin Williams just had a little opinion on this, here is what he said:

"I see a lot of people yelling for peace but I have not heard of a plan for peace. So, here's one plan."

1) "The US will apologize to the world for our "interference" in their affairs, past & present. You know, Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Tojo, Noriega, Milosevic, Hussein, and the rest of those "good 'ole' boys", we will never "interfere" again.

2) We will withdraw our troops from all over the world, starting with Germany , South Korea , the Middle East, and the Philippines . They don't want us there. We would station troops at our borders. No one allowed sneaking through holes in the fence.

3) All illegal aliens have 90 days to get their affairs together and l eave. We'll give them a free trip home. After 90 days the remainder will be gathered up and deported immediately, regardless of whom or where they are. They're illegal!!!

4) All future visitors will be thoroughly checked and limited to 90 days unless given a special permit!!!! No one from a terrorist nation will be allowed in. If you don't like it there, change it yourself and don't hide here. Asylum would never be available to anyone. We don't need any more cab drivers or 7-11 cashiers.

5) No foreign "students" over age 21. The older ones are the bombers. If they don't attend classes, they get a "D" and it's back home baby.

6) The US will make a strong effort to become self-sufficient energy wise. This will include developing nonpolluting sources of energy but will require a temporary drilling of oil in the Alaskan wilderness. The caribou will have to cope for a while.

7) Offer Saudi Arabia and other oil producing countries $10 a barrel for their oil. If they don't like it, we go someplace else. They can go somewhere else to sell their production. (About a week of the wells filling up the storage s ites would be enough.)

8) If there is a famine or other natural catastrophe in the world, we will not "interfere." They can pray to Allah or whomever, for seeds, rain, cement or whatever they need. Besides most of what we give them is stolen or given to the army. The people who need it most get very little, if anything.

9) Ship the UN Headquarters to an isolated island someplace. We don't need the spies and fair weather friends here. Besides, the building would make a good homeless shelter or lockup for illegal aliens.

10) All Americans must go to charm and beauty school. That way, no one can call us "Ugly Americans" any longer. The Language we speak is ENGLISH...learn it...or LEAVE...Now, isn't that a winner of a plan?

"The Statue of Liberty is no longer saying "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses." She's g ot a baseball bat and she's yelling, 'you want a piece of me?' "

I agree with him.

I wonder how many new schools we could of build with the money we have spent in Iraq?

I wonder how many homeless people in America would have a place to live if we spent the money on Americans and not other countries?

I wonder how far in finding a cure for diseases we would be with the money we have already spent in Iraq?

I wonder how many poor people or middle class people would have a chance to go to college or play professional sports if we invested the same money as we have in Iraq?

I wonder if New Orleans would of be destroyed if we spent the money in Iraq on a sea wall, and other resources providing early warning for natural disasters?

I know one thing:

If we learned to take care of Americans and stay out of other peoples business there would be 3,012 Americans alive today!

The world changes, new technology, resources and greed. Most of the time when we poke our nose in someone else's affairs, is for our own gain.

Someone forgot to tell FDR!

In other words, I think there are limits to that philosophy, which you have misstated somewhat in the first place.
