I am from Bulgaria and I leave in the US. I always go back for skiing. Recommendations: Bansko (a little more advanced skier - intermediate and up) and Pamporovo - great, all levels of skiing. Google them, try contacting http://www.pamporovo.net or www.bulgariaski.com you'll like it

Use a skiing holiday search engine for minimum fuss especially one that you can phone for expert advice (a ski holiday isn't as straight forward as a flight, accomodation and transfer).

directline-skiing is pretty good (includes ski holidays from all the main UK tour operators).

General top tips:
1) ensure your budget allows for equipment hire, ski pass & insurance

2) well established resorts will cater for all level of skier, but the smaller resorts can offer good value for money begineers (bulgaria and andorra).

3) Check the time of year and the altitude of your resort (for Nov, Dec, Mar & Apr I'd suggest heading to higher resorts like Tignes) .

4) Do a little light training before you go (just a little bike riding, skating or roller blading can get your leg muscles used to unusual movements. You'll learn quicker and better enjoy the skiing)

Pamporovo in Bulgaria has the one of the best ski runs for beginners. You might wish to try something totally new also - the emerging resort of Chepelare. Lots of small cheap family hotels in town. The longest ski run on the Balkans.

Being French but British resident i often go back "home" and often go skiing(Even tho I'm no good lol !)
I can only recommend one place i love for cool stay in a warm atmosphere.
It' a ski resort called LES COCHES near the MONT BLANC and you can have all information and do booking on this site : http://www.pierre-et-vacances.co.uk/scripts/fiche_produit.php?id_ofr=240#
I just want to add i have nothing to do with this company called PIERRE ET VACANCES but have always been satisfied by their products.
Have fun and if you go there with your partner we might meet with my partner....and my dog !!

look at hoseasons - they have a great array of caravanning and chalets/cottage trip journeys in wales. We went to a cottage in snowdonia some years in the past via them and it replaced into alluring - wales is a astounding u . s . a ., jampacked with background and environment and that i found the welsh human beings basically as friendly as everywhere else.
