They're both based on a tune often (incorrectly) attributed to Mozart - its actual origins are unknown.
Whoever made up the alphabet song - was it Sesame Street? - used an existing tune that kids would be familiar with to make it easier for them to learn.

For the same reason as 'O Canada' and 'Oh Tannenbaum/ Christmas Tree' and 'Glorious Things Of Thee are Spoken' and 'Deutschland Uber Alles' have the same tune - someone wrote two lots of words....
