Sometimes the slow in growth is due to your placenta giving up. If everything else appears to be fine besides the baby not gaining weight as quick as they think the baby should. I would opt against it unless the baby is in distress. Maybe ask for a level 2 or level 3 u/s so they can check the baby more thoroughly. Simple U/S can not pick up some things. It missed my daughters major kidney problem which effected her gaining weight and thriving the way she should have the first couple years of her life. My other children had the level 2 u/s to make sure this didn't happen again.
I would push to leave her in there... basic u/s are not as accurate as the doctor says.
Good Luck

Momma2mingbu has the right answer. Seek a second opinion. Taking the baby early because it hasn't put on that much weight is ridiculous.

If your daughter wants to put a little more weight on baby, suggest she increase her daily intake of food, not necessarily the healthy variety. On the other hand, if the baby is in distress, seems to be losing ground or the placenta is degrading, there might be a reason to birth that baby soon.

Either way, I'd get a second opinion.

I don't know why they would take the baby out when it is small. I would think they would let nature take its course, unless she is way over due. As for the size, that isn't bad for 36 weeks. As long as the baby has no apparent health issues and weighs 5 pounds at birth they'll let her go home the next day or so, depending on hospital policy.

I hope this makes you feel better. I was told I was having an average size baby, results from ultrasound and exams. I gave birth to a 10 lb 13 oz baby!!!! They do not know everything. Then tthey made me have my second early so he would be smaller for sure.....10 lbs 12 oz!!!! Wrong again. Good luck and do not worry so much.

When I was 37 weeks pregnant an ultrasound told me that my little boy weighed 4 pounds 6 ounces and i went into labor 2 days later and he weighed 6 pounds 9 ounces, dont always rely on those test.

Ultrasound is frequently wrong by as much as a pound when they estimate weights. I would think long and hard before allowing them to "take the baby" based on just that information. I'd probably seek a second opinion.

well, in two weeks your daughter will only have two weeks to go, so if your daughter or the baby isn't in immediate danger then they'll probably just let her carry on but keep a close eye on her with frequent scans. If there are signs that something is wrong then they'll either induce her or give her a section. If there was anything to worry about they would be acting on it now, so just relax and look forward to your new grandbaby!!!

i'd ask for another opinion, normally they only remove the baby if medically needed. But just for a small baby, as long as the baby is healthy, like all fingers, stomach, kidneys, etc. are there, then there should be no reason. Ask the doctor for more details, just ask and ask and ask until you either understand it, or get the outcome you want.
