What a big waste of time for our legislators. There are about a half dozen cases per year where someone burns a flag in the USA. I believe there are more important things that our lawmakers need to tend to, after all they only work 6 months out of the year but get paid 4 times as much as the average citizen.

What other president tried to scrap the first amendment? To burn something is part of the freedom of expression. Why not roll both in one, scrap the 1st and make flag burning illegal. Would you be happy then?

Hey,,,cool name, I watch your TV Series all the time, can't wait for season 5.
Jack, I hate Bush and the neo-conservatives who have lead our country down a one-way street; but I'm still an American, and I don't think it is right to burn the US Flag....maybe a puppet of Bush, Rumsfeld, Cheney, etc., but not the Flag. the flag is forever, a politicans shelf life is only for 4 years...well some 8!

You must live in another country.
NO president has ever tried to make it illegal to burn our flag.
THAT IS THE JOB OF CONGRESS.
Glad you enjoy burning our flag.

It really wasn't an issue until the late 1980's. So to answer your question it would be Bush and daddy Bush. I don't recall much happening on this issue when Clinton was president.

Please just go to the link below and research your question a bit. It was illegal to burn our flag until 1972.

In a free nation, we shouldn't be so quick to ban anything.
We have freedom of speech, and expression. That includes flag burning.
Sorry.
