crime is a very real topic here in south africa. as a young woman i am very aware that i might get mugged or assaulted at any moment so i tend to walk with one eye over my shoulder and i'm always suspicious of everyone!

I don't seem to be afraid of crime concerning myself but I worry about my family. I am very cautious when it comes to where I drive and where I park, etc. I live in a very safe neighborhood for the most part but I still am aware of what goes on around me. I lock up my outside stuff because there's a light fingered idiot kid down the block.

I'm so afraid of crime that I don't want to go out at night anymore. I stay home and it feels like I'm in jail. It's no good here in South Africa.

I would say a 5 only because I am female and we have a tendency to become victims. I have a very heavy purse with a long strap it can be flung easily. I also have good lungs and my cell phone.

2. I don't tend to think about it that much. Fortunately I live in an area where there is a relatively low level of crime, so it's not so much of an issue.

2. I live out in the country and in the area I live in there isn't much crime. I don't go into the city and never alone.
