how could you possibly check your own cervix?

In general, the cervix will open a bit and usually drop down in position during your fertile time to allow easy access for sperm. During pregnancy, the cervix will move up and tilt towards your back, to help hold the pregnancy in place and remain closed until near the end of the pregnancy.

It's a good idea to get to know your own body. Just make sure your hands are clean and your nails short.

When you are fertile, your cervix will be "SHOW" which means soft, high, open and wet.

It will feel soft, kind of like you cheek, instead of firm, like your nose.
It will be higher up than you usually feel it.
It will be open. When you are fertile, you will be able to feel a small hole and maybe even insert the tip of your finger into the os (opening of cervix). Other times, it will feel like just a little dimple instead of a hole.
You'll be wet, with lots of cervical mucous. The best kind is "egg white" cervical mucous, which is stretchy kind of like egg whites.

As long as your hands are clean and your nails are well-trimmed, there is nothing wrong with checking your own cervix. Some people just aren't that comfortable or familiar with their own bodies. When you do conceive, it's also not a problem as long as your bag of water is still intact.

Are you pregnant? If you've already had a child your cervix will never close fully. If you are pregnant and this is first child, how far gone are you? Why oh why are you trying to feel your own cervix??

I've tried that before and only could tell when it was high. I think that it is very hard to tell with that. Just try... it can't hurt. Best of luck.

the cervix has a small hole at all times. It wont open unless you are in labour or miscarrying

if you have any doubt about anything, always call your dr, or the nurse on call. They would be better to assist you. No question is ever to dumb. And i am sure they've seen and heard it all.

Are you pregnant. You really should be leaving your cervix alone. I think you can cause damage if you mess around with it.
