Hi
I am an estate agents and this is a really crap service you are receiving. make sure you read the contract properly. Give him two weeks notice in writing, if a sale is arranged in this time tho you will have to pay the estate agents fees. and normally the marketing will stop after the two week period, but you are allowed to remove the board your self, and either give it to the estate agents or leave it outside for them to collect. If you have signed a contract with them you may be tied in to the contract until a certain period of time is up.
Hope this helps

Two weeks notice gives him that time to finalize the listing. This means that if he has shown the property to a prospective buyer, and if you or any other agent should sell the property to the same prospective buyer, he will still be entitled to a commission. This could be binding for a longer period that two weeks, but since it has not been shown, it's moot, unless some agent shows it during the two weeks.
Since it has not been shown, and you cancel his listing, he may, at his discretion, finalize and remove the signs. You may not be able to contract with another agent for the two week period. That may be stipulated in the listing contract.
I think you may have to consider it "as still listed" for two weeks, and should any agent show it within that period, all commissions will be due.
He will, no doubt, remove it from MLS as soon as he can. It may take a few days or longer to do this, I'm not sure.

three weeks on an estates agents books is not a long time, there will be people on the books looking to buy and these people will be contacted,I once put a house on the market and never had any viewing at all later taking it off the estate agents books, I had to pay for photos and paper work at the time twenty five pounds, still later putting it back on the market and selling with in three weeks at another agent,I've have herd of a seller getting to the point of moving and told that the deal has broken down they say that to sell and move, will give you the most stress

I think it's time to get a new agent. You need to tell the agent you presently have that they are not doing enough to sell your property and then let him/her know that you'll be looking elsewhere for an agent.

you have to discuss with him/her why he is going, and depending upon your contract you may have to write a letter giving a notice period.
