viruses cannot survive in natural environment & therefore they cannot be grown.they multiply only in living cells & cannot be grown in an inanimate culture medium.they need a special medium to grow...they can b grown by 3 methods:1. animal inoculation 2. embryonated egg inoculation 3. tissue culture

It depends greatly on the type of virus you are trying to culture. Every virus, from bacteriophages to ebola require a different type of cell to grow on, and those cells require different growth conditions. But basically, you need to give it food (i.e. cells) and you need to give it nutritional conditions under which it can reproduce. The nutritional needs might actually be more for the cells to put them in a state that makes it easy for the virus to reproduce.

You might want to look on Medline and do a search using combinations of the following terms: virus culture "feeder cells" etc, and look for reviews (click on the review tab at the top of the search results page) from papers that have open access. If you don't get access to the paper, you might just want to copy down the reference and go to your local university and go "stack diving"
