Absolutely not. Music is going through the longest period without innovation since rock music began. The major labels are now cynically controlling the charts and people's tastes, limiting what can become popular to the styles that are already popular.
There hasn't been an innovative or exciting music scene since the Eighties.

Hell no... unless you find the demise of our music exciting! Almost everything recent has been utter crap, the record companies are just churning out all this rubbish. All the bands you see just now are exactly the same, shallow, talentless, and completely unoriginal. They don't have any ideas of their own. For example, have you noticed how much Oasis nicked from the Beatles, Franz Ferdinand are just copying the Talking Heads, and much of the stuff that we hear is just a quickly thrown together tune with whoever is 'in' at the moment singing it. Loads of these idiots can't even sing, and the recording studios have to disguise their talentlessness. They just take on a band, shout about how good they are for a wee while, everyone buys the music, and a short time later they are totally forgotten about, screwed by the record companies. There is not much music in the music anymore, it is just another commercial venture like those dumb TV programmes and movies that continually get churned out. So no, I don't think there is anything exciting about the music scene at the moment, I think its a very sad situation, especially for all the truly talented musicians out there who write and play great music, but there is just no place on the market for it anymore.

No but that's not confined to Britain - music is boring and desperately awaiting a breath or originality and excitement everywhere. I still love Radiohead but I think a lot of British music is really boring....same goes for all countries. We need a kind of music revolution or maybe a new genre needs to be formed.

Unfortunately I'm not seeing a lot of stand out acts like The Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Who, etc. There are some talented people now but they don't seem to have the impact of the 1960's.
