The main thing to do is to look at some of the websites such as pdsa, rspca, cats protection and all the other animal charites- there are loads of them by searching on the internet. They will have a situations vacant or jobs category usually.

Charities are very strict when they employ people so you usually need 2 references and like any job, brush up on your interview techniques.

Decide which side of work you want to be involved in- if it is retail- work in a charity shop voluntarily, if if is admin, try and brush upon your admin skills and offer to help with filing etc. If it is animal welfare, offer to help with the animals at a sanctury etc.

All voluntary work is valid and no doubt will show your interest and add to your cv.

Hi there I had to work for nearly a year on my local city farm before I could work for a charity, even though at the end of it they put me into a veterinary centre, some one ruined the farm. I loved it there but with all the animals dying in my arms I could'nt handle it, even though I was only 17 so maybe I should try it again?.Hayley-May

go to www.animalplanet. com. I was watching one of their shows one time and discovered that they have animal police. Maybe you can find out more about what is offered in your state. good luck.

check with your local humane society, they will have places to turn you towards if that is what you really want to do with your life.
