When I watched this on Sunday I was astounded by how unbelievably, criminally awful it was.

The costumes were rubbish. People were wearing badly-disguised trainers, for gods' sake. Most of the armour worn by the Normans wasn't proper chain mail or even the lighter string mail sometimes used by actors, it was some sort of cheapie moulded plastic stuff.

I think they were trying to make the dialogue a bit post-modern and cool - sort of like the Casanova dramatisation. The difference was, Casanova was actually good - the dialogue and the authentic backdrop contrasted well with each other.

But in Robin Hood, because the kit they are wearing is absolutely rubbish, the postmodern dialogue reinforces the impression of a program made by people who don't know their historical ar$e from their elbow.

The old 80's HTV Robin of Sherwood series with Michael Praed wasn't perfect but it was better than this pretentious, low-budget pile of tripe!

God yes its awful. Robin looks about 10 and cant act marion looks wierd she has big features on a small face and looks a freak she really scares me. The sheriff is funny but then he's actually quite a good actor. Rest of the cast just cant act. yet somehow ive still watched both episodes it think it cantains heroin thats why im addicted or car crash syndrone want to turn away but cant.

Lighten up! It's lighthearted family entertainment and good fun. It's not meant to be 'serious drama'. It's about time the Beeb brought back family teatime viewing fun and I for one am hooked already.

And as for the acting, anyone who thinks Keith Allen can't act needs their head examined.

Bring back the men in green tights with nicely starched tunics! Or get a re-enactment group to have a go with proper weapons!

I do find it OK to watch, however I feel that the language is too modern and takes away the atmosphere of it being an historical story.

I must admit, this time the BBC have not got it right. Normally the Beeb produce top notch historical dramas, but not this time. Bring back the Doctor! Pronto.

I agree. Another good indication of quality is the level of hype it gets, which is invariably inversely proportional to how good it will be.

In the lead-up to it, I was already convinced it would be trash.

He's a damn good shot with that bow, though - lol.

First episode was okay, but then in the second episode, it just got worse.
I much prefer the kids series "Maid Marian and her Merry Men" - much more believable LOL!!

Was looking forward to seeing it, but am very disappointed. However, the new series of Vincent seems to be good.

I agree It was awful, bad acting, rubbish script, no continuity and terrible casting.
