Errrm, context please? In what country? If in the UK, dentists are still governed by maimum fees set under the NHS (assuming you can find an NHS dentist). And the also ask yourself, would YOU wish to/be capable of undergoing the required training and University courses required to qualify as a dentist, and would you then wish to spend your life rooting about in people's mouths? So the dentists are not 'ripping you off' in any sense of the word and to suggest they are is ludicrous. Unless you can demonstrate that a dentist has given you treatment you did not require, or charged you in excess of what his going rate is, (in which case 'the government'- via the courts- can intervene)....

no person in government seem to have the guts to take them on and read the riot act. there is a remedy bring fully vetted qualified dental surgeons from abroad and with a little help from the government to set them up with a proviso that ONLY nhs patients are treated you would soon see a scarper with the present attitude of the dentist here in UK
