I love animals especially primates and I would love to study orangutans and perhaps help save them from extinction.
I don't think there is a degree for primatology and I think you need to become a biologist or naturalist or something before you can specialize in primates. Is this true?
I am currently in grade 8 in australia.

You need to be a biologist, explorer, brave, stupid, clever and poor to do what you want. I have wanted to be a naturalist all my life but you got to earn some money so I studied medicine to pay for my expeditions. I have been bitten, scratched, kicked, stepped on, stung and even beaten by the tail of a varanus (I believe you call the goannas)...and I have never regretted a day. I can hardly wait to schedule my next trip. I have been through the forests of Borneo and watch the Orangs, and I have a special fondness for gibbons. I spent three weeks watching pandas, and shivered the whole time. The only thing I really hate are leeches... they really make me paranoid as they guzzle my warm blood and I can't move. For your education, study to become a biologist first, then work with one of the foundations that support primate research. And as my Aussie friends say "Good on you, mate!"

If you are in high school and trying to become a Union electrician you will need at least 2 semesters of Algebra with a C avg. just to be able to apply to the apprenticeship program.
