good thing I know how to cook, I don't have to have one, besides, I couldn't afford one. Maybe I'll just go become one, sounds like a good idea, I wonder if you have to have schooling for that kind of thing?

My decision will really depends on alot of internal and external factors. Such as:

1) Am you are operating a business or he is just a personal cook?

2) Is he committed in improving?

3) If your are operating a business, do you have other cooks to promote?

4) If you are not in business, then is it really important to have a cook?

5) Do you think he cannot cook or is it just because you are not accustom to the taste of his food?

In my own point of view, I would try to teach him is he shows committment. If not, I would ask myself if I really need a cook?

Actually, I do not comprehen "how do a person gets employed as a cook if he does not know how to cook?".

Cheers...

that depends ... if I just really liked my cook, I'd train them so I could continue to have them around ... otherwise I'd fire them and get a competent one. If I had the money for a cook, I'd have one ... why not? It would give me more time to focus on other things I like to do, and in fact I think it would be awesome if there was someone whose whole job was to make me whatever I want.

Fire Him! But in a nice way. explain to him why you should in a nice peaceful way. It would be better to get another one, this time make sure he is certified a cook. before accepting him, first make him cook for your fave dish. and take note! he should be trustworthy. filipinos are good cook. Peace Out!

Do you own a restaurant, or is this a home cook? If home, give him a cookbook and let him learn. Where did you find him to hire? He should at least know the basics

Depending on the time and what I want of him I am more likely to hire somebody new and fire him in that order.

A person who doesn't know how to cook isn't a "cook;" ergo, I wouldn't hire that person do to my cooking in the first place.

depends on his time keeping, dedication, imagination, how good an employee he is.

Cooking can be taught recipe by recipe, he obviously wants to be one, i'd stick it out and give him a chance. He learns one recipe a day, and practices them within a month he'll be a decent and appreciated compliment to staff quality.

Although, since he's lied and time wasted so far, my first impulse would be to eat HIM

it depends on how long you can reign in your hunger ;)

if you're the decidedly paitient sort and you like your cook who can't cook, then you can enroll him through cooking workshops.

however if you don't like your cook, and can't afford to wait, by all means find another cook :)

in the meantime, you'd have to rely on yourself and take out :D
