It's possibly a virus, but I was running 98 for a long time, and eventually the problems added up, mostly because new software technology can only run with downward compatibility for so long. 98 is just too old. This is 8, going on 9, years now! That's half of forever in the computer world.

Did you spill drink or water to your keyboard? Maybe it got shorcircuited, but not totally broken. So you can still type, just not not getting the appropriate result.

Maybe it's a virus, although I never heard of a virus so 'friendly', it doesn't damage or leave a sign on your computer, it just 'pull a prank' on you.

On the other hand, maybe that's the problem, maybe somebody was pulling a prank on you. Check the letters assortment on your keyboard. Are they normal? Maybe somebody switched the letters button on your keyboard. Second, what program are you using? If you're using MS Word, it has the auto-correct feature. This feature helps you to avoid mistype or typo. For example when it's turned on, it would automatically change 'teh' to 'the'. Check it, maybe somebody added a new word to the database of the auto-correct feature.
