Building a canal along the US-Mexico border is more expensive since most of the areas are deserts and mountainous.

Well, it would solve the unemployment problem. If they got paid a decent wage for working on their side of the canal it might solve the cross border labour problems as well. Of course the canal would be useless for shipping because of the mines the USA would put into it for security reasons.

Sorry Tricky but I believe most can swim. Just need a BIG fence. an electric one would be nice!

Better suggestion: My family immigrated in the 1850's. Anyone whose family immigrated after that should GO HOME!
(That suggestion is at least as logical the popular plans.)
