Yes Lennon was right, along with Dylan,Marley and a host of others who "saw the light" too.Politicians are in office for a reason, but I'm afraid the "real" reason is lost on them,as it is in time and history. It has just got to be the easiest way of making a fast buck and be answerable to no one at the same time, easy work-and money for old rope. Why do we fall for it?We have to-it is "the way".I wish there were a different "way" for us all,in all country's,but there isn't-they lead,we follow.Shepherds and sheep,or the lemming syndrome, call it what you will-it is "the way"-may god help our children of the next generation-i hope they do better.

John Lennon was right when he claimed that governments and religions are the poison that caused wars just like what happened in Southeast Asia leading to mass killings in Cambodia and Vietnam.

When Mr John Lennon was singing about no possessions he had a white rolls royce, when he sang about no war and religion he was sending money secretly to the IRA. Its a pretty song but he was every bit as hypocritical as the Politicos.

As far as political systems go, democracy is not only the best, it is also the messiest. I feel that every 2 years, the new Congress should be required to sing John Lennon's song that you mentioned.

Politicians are indespensible for a democratic state. If we can't have politicians then we'll have administrators. Politicians at least are accountable to the parliament and the electorate. Administrators are accountable to no one. Thus politicians are in a way a lesser evil.

I have a poor opinion of John Lennon I think he might well be regarded as the patron saint of Hippies. He had visions of saving the world but couldn't save his marriage. If I had medals to isssue I'd give it to those good fathers who reared their children in righteousness, against all odds.
