Many says it is because of lack of cleanliness, but to be more specific, your ears has to be kept from being too moist, like for example when you shower or swim and get water in your ears, you should dry it with cloth to absorb the wetness. Having moist ear makes it prone to fungi, which is the usual case, causing the itching.

Your dr. sounds very vague.
You probably just have a build up of dry skin.
Usually, a dr is the best person to clean out your ears if they are blocked.
You could just gently rub some cream (on the outside) and around the opening of the ear if your skin is very dry.
Be careful not to get any of the cream inside your ear though - this may cause an infection.

Keep your ears dry. Put a few drops of rubbing alcohol or alcohol mixed with an equal amount of white vinegar in the ear after swimming or showering. Wiggle the outside of the ear to let the liquid enter the ear canal; then tilt your head and let it drain out.

I also have itching ears due to contact ezcema created by wearing hearing aids. When it is a slight itch I put on non-steroid cream obtained from Holland and Barratt (UK), but when more severe I have regular Dexamethasone spray from my doctor.

Hi i get this alot and its usually when i have blocked sinues or am allerigc to something but my mouth also itches, but if your doctor has checked for this i dont know what it could be. It could be your allergic to something you are eating. It a pain as where ever you try to itch it doesnt ease it. Careful not to itch it too much as you could make it more sore, try and ignore it as sometimes it dissapears.

Many reasons there my friend,
Cleanliness, ear infection from the change of weather or even a head cold, once my grandmothers ear was itchy and on a cotton wool piece she put warm oil and put it in her ear, 10 minutes later the culprit,,,,an ant.

Ask for Audiclean from the pharmacy or buy online. It's made of purified sea water & helps to get rid of wax plugs (yeuckk I know but a fact of life! ) Its costs approx £6.00 & lasts & lasts.
Really easy to use, just spray it in.
Good luck.

Hi - I have this because of my eczema, its right in my ear canals and drives me CRACKERS!! Also I get a lot of wax in my ears as I have tiny ear canals so it really helps when I get them syringed. Maybe try having them syringed, see if that helps. Good luck, nothing worse than having your finger in your ear all day lol! Hugs, Bxx

Might just be irritated by sinus drainage, if it doesn't happen all of the time.
