I'm 25 and single. I have an honours degree and a steady job - albeit in a poor country (Zimbabwe). The thing is I'm considering quiting my job to go job hunting in South Africa where prospects are way way better. Initially I'll do ANYTHING to earn money to pay my way for a Masters degree. The risk is I may fail to find ajob in S.A. and if I do I'll most probably be an illegal immigrant who can be deported. Finding another job in Zimbabwe would be next to impossible.
Should I be happy with what I have and not risk it or shd I take the plunge???

Can you take a few weeks off from your current job, and take the time to find out what your prospects are for finding a new job? It's better to have a job lined up before quitting the one you have. Just tell your prospective employer that you can start in 2 weeks (or whatever time is required) because you need to give proper notice to your current employer. They'll understand.

Do you love your current job or do you constantly dream of being more and doing better? Since you're young and still single, and hopefully don't have a family that are depended upon you for support, my advice is take the risk. Nothing ventured, nothing gained as they say.

I'm actually thinking of quitting my current profession and shifting full time to business. Though I have a lucrative and respected job, my heart just isn't in it. We all have just this 1 life to live, so why not enjoy it?

Before quitting your job for good though and to further minimize the risk, why don't you take a short vacation to South Africa to determine for yourself if moving there is truly the best choice for you.

Hi. Please read this with an open mind. Too many people have been sucked into the mindset that getting a Masters guarantees job opportunities. In my day to day encounter with many people with masters degrees, many of them don't even find a job with Masters degrees. Some of them quit their job to take their masters only to find out that after leaving the workforce for 1-2 years they are found redundant.

Masters is only useful for management staffs. I don't think that's your priority right now. Your priority is to brush up your communication skills, get a good resume and increase your chances by developing good presentation skills. There are some free resources here. Don't even think of doing anything illegal.

i would advice you to apply jobs in S A or in any other country while you are still working in your current one. never quit it if you ave no where else to start working. remember jobs nowardays are very hard to get as people have really learned. sooooo i would advice you not to quit but continue searching. good luck
