I've scanned my computer in safe mode using Norton antivirus and I can't remove the Backdoor.trojan virus. It keeps coming back and I get lots of messages popping up on my screen. I've noticed this happens when I'm connected each time to the internet. My operating system is Windows 2000.

Do I need to go to the registry to edit the values? Is there any removal tool or patch to remove this virus? Help please!

I would try some anti spyware products to remove the programs that keep putting these back on. Have a look at my blog at http://blog.360.yahoo.com/wektech for some links to free products that may help you. If all else fails the good folks at bleepingcomputer.com may be able to help you out.

Try using a different anti virus. I use avg. Get the new antivirus installed, disconnect from the internet. Run the antivirus, afterwards, run a disk cleanup. reboot and see if that takes care of your problem. Good luck.

backdoor.trojan:

You should update your Norton anti-virus definitions. Then do another scan. It should be removed once the definitions is updated.

Alternatively, you may pay a visit to the following web to get a step by step removal instructions by Norton...
