You are not quite correct. Many Chinese, Vietnamese and other Asians do not have the epicanthal fold. It is thought that evolutionarily, the fold helped to shield their eyes from the sand storms and those of the northwestern and northern China have very distinctive folds, but those in the south, either lack them or they are much reduced. Koreans and Japanese are from the same northern ethnic stock. The Tibetans are sort of a mystery as many have the folding and as far as we can determine they are not closely related. It is more interesting to note the facial features in general, as the natives of Guang Dong Province are distinctly different from the people of other regions. There are 56 ethnic races in China and today because of work, school, etc they are becoming more homogenized into a Chinese race. Some of my friends from Dalian have very narrow distances between their eyelids and they almost look as if their eyes are closed. Many other kinds of animals have evolved similar protective devices, i.e. crocodiles to protect their eyes from water and debris and that is called a nictating membrane. Another possible cause is from the structure of the facial bones, as the nasal bones are reduced, they can not support the musculature above the inner eyes and allow them a sag. It seems that visual accuity is not affected by the fold but it is true that a disproportionate number of Asians wear glasses...perhaps genetic or brought about by childhood diseases.

Hong Kong is a territory of China since 1997. However before the British returned Hong Kong to China, they had signed an agreement with China to give political autonomy to Hong Kong for the next 50 years. Today, Hong Kong is officially part of China but Hong Kong has their own government called Hong Kong Special Administrative Region which is highly independent from China. I know many people are still confuse with this but i was suprised how you could get the idea that Hong Kong could be part of Japan. Hong Kong has never been part of Japan except perhaps during the world war 2

It is to allow more articulation of the eyeball and better arcs of vision and easier rearwards vision.
This is a result of Darwinian evolution in the same way "black" peoples have a darker more fierce sunlight compatible skin than the MK 1 Human being, the German, and the eye structure was a nescessary evolutional development facilitating the survival of the fittest in an environment where a swift unannounced stab in the back is the usual method of initiating and resolving personal conflict

It's to do with evolution and the areas they live. Years ago there was a lot of snowy or sandy areas and people with this eye structure could overcome the problem of snow/sand-blindness. Just take a look at Eskimos.

Since we all are one single species who moved to different geographic locations, the biological adaptation changed the size of the eye to changing light levels as we moved from equator to higher latitudes is a probable explanation.

why do westerns have different eye structure to asians? it's how you look at it.
It's all in the genes...like the way we have different races with different physical characteristics or animals with many species, flowers with different colours, scent etc.
so the answer is genetics

the food and the weather decides you facial lines eg a person lives in desert you can see lines on and below his eyes because of the sun and the people who lives in antarctica have lines below and on his eyes because of immence anount of reflection of light from snow and their faces are also reddish because of the extreme weather their skin if resisting
so wat ever we eat and where ever we live it has an impact on our body but that impact takes centuries and generations for changes thats why the world has divided us in different skins but we all have same blood same bones same muscle tissue and ect ...
