As soon as possible. In some cases, if the negligence is noticeable immediately, then the courts will not entertain long delays

In the UK the impact can vary as some problems do not manifest themselves for many years after the incident. This has benn the subject of lengthy and expensive litigation.

When an accident has been entered into records there is 10 years to make a claim under EU law.

The problem arises when an illness manifests itself after this period but is directly connected to the incident. There has also been litigation arising from this scenario that has been successful, but was more a matter of more than one company involved at different intervals that meant that one part of the case was out of time and the other was not.

It is very much a case by case situation.

Hope this helps.
