gods are created in the minds of people. So, there would be no change unless your image of god was a crutch you were using to prop yourself up. You'd have to learn to stand on your own feet.

Let us at least be a bit more benevolent to God !
Let us not treat Him like another ordinary human being...
Can we not find some reason to just continue worship/show-of-gratitude for what he has done so far ? Or treat Him like a human being and 'Expect' something from Him, and therefore knowing Him to be now 'out of power' (coup victim, like some political leader!), and therefore stop praying even !
The mind is an ever-asking-for-return one ! That is why so many times love is asked to be defined.. what is true love, what is love ... etc...
But in reality too, it looks as if God has done his job, with such a wonderful creation, and left things to us, deciding not to interfere, what-ever-happens ! So your question is very valid, if a person is prepared to look within ! This question also helps to check up our capacity to feel an unconditional love for ..... (well, at least God !)

No, God will never stop being God. But if you drift away from God, you will feel the absence of God and his "supernatural powers". God is always there. He has an abiding love for you. He does not abandon you. You can abandon Him, however. But the fault, the sin, lies with you. And you are left more than helpless, You are lost. This is the definition of Hell. The rejection of God. The loss of God's love.

You are suggesting an oxymoron. The very definition of God rests on the absolutness of an infinitely higher order and power. IF a voice did tell you that He was God and said above statements then he wasn't God in the first place

If I ever heard anything like that, I would clean my ears, get over the hallucination and start praying more fervently -
because I know the power of prayer and have never felt the need to additionally know the power of God!!

Dependence on God means denial to the self. Man is the God of himself. The moment man gets this feeling, he will start into looking deep into his soul and he will not be helpless but attain supreme power transcendent into himself.

God tells me He is powerless? I would first think I am honored He came and spoke to me personally like that. I would think as well He was not as He claimed. There is but one God to me, no I would not be concerned in searching for His substitute. My only concern I guess would be how much I believed in destiny and if He had a part in that and it was gone, that would depend on your belief. People and atheists ask questions as this. It just shows you lack faith or really don't understand God at all. Where is your faith? If God stood in front of you and said OK people here I am. What do you think people would do? After all He walked the Earth in a mans form we were created after and men crucified him after how many hundreds of miracles? But, that is OK, you don't believe. Men look at themselves as their God, it is only when they want to change something they are powerless to change do they seek Him. The rest use prayer for that, there is their faith. Look up that word faith and see if you can understand what it means.

Supernatural powers or not, being a disembodied voice is pretty cool. So if God said anything to me at all, it'd be enough to make me START praying!
Hello?
God?

God is a supernatural being and an eternal being who lives forever. His supernatural power is part of Him and be assured He can never lose it but have superabundance of it. So pray with faith and have rest in Him.

I will still look around. I will see the majestic mountains, , hear the chirping of the birds, see the power of the huge ocean waves, will see a cow just delivering its calf, ...........Then I will know God was just kidding!
"did you get frightened, my child?" I will hear the soft voice. " so many times , in your childhood , you did the same thing. And , you went clinging to your mother. She never left you. I, too, would never leave you"
I will wake up to that assurance.
