Of the one's you listed, Lord Blackadder is my favourite, but that is mainly because Queenie is so good.
But you forgot King Blackadder (in the millenium special) and Ebenezer Blackadder!

That's a tough one. Personally I thought the third and second series both showed progression in slickness and cleverness of writing. The fourth series was as good as the third and had the added poignancy of the futility of WWI.
The regency period offered up some great situations; play writing, highwaymen and the Scarlet Pimpernell, but overall I think I'll go for the fourth series, simply because both Stephen Fry and Hugh Lawrie were both regular core characters for that series. I think that blend of personalities is unbeatable. Baaahhh!

'Treat your woman like you treat your plane...climb inside her twice a day and take her to heaven and back...' Captain flasheart in Lord Blackadder was fantastic... Plus I love Queenie, so that one would be my fave.....
Most emotional moment in a comedy has to be on Blackadder goes forth, when they go over the top...think thats the first comedy I've ever cried at....

"baldrick-what begins with come here and ends in ow?"
"I don't know"

"ooowwww"
and who could forget captain flashheart and the twenty-minuters?
-Flashheart: "If word gets out that I'm missing, 500 girls will kill themselves and I wouldn't want them on my conscience - not when they ought to be on my face!"
"I smell something fishy, and I'm not talking about the contents of Baldrick's apple crumble".

Blackadder goes Forth is by far the best series -It's funny, poignant, and more historically accurate than any history book you could ever read.
