Well, apart from having a major city named after him. Ho Chi Minh was the leader of North Viet Nam who led them to victory over the southern forces and- incidentally- the forces of the U.S.A.!
So much was learned by American and European civilian populations about what war was like from the open coverage of the Viet-Nam war that all subsequent wars (including those ongoing in Iraq and Afghanistan) have been fought in the more traditional conditions of misinformation and secrecy.
