You are not alone. Click on the link below which will take you to a forum where people are having probs deleting this trojan...Rea d down to response number 4. There is a person there who has set out instructions of how to manually delete it.
I could have answered this question by copying & pasting the instructions but that would have been cheating!

OK, Karen, Please do understand that the following instructions must be followed, with no mistakes, because the registry editing is an experts job, not meant for amateurs to use. Please also understand that I am in no way liable for any problems that you might fact as a consequence of your commissions and omissions.

Here are the manual removal instructions for the worm Trojan STWOYLE
It is recommended that you take a print-out of these instructions (and keep them handy) before starting the cleaning up of the machine. Please disable System Restore so that the Trojan doesn't get saved along with the rest of the information for future use.
1.Go to Start and click on it.
2.Go to Run and click on it.
3.In the dialog box that opens, type in regedit and hit Enter.
4.In the Registry Editor Panel that opens go to Edit and click on it.
6.In the drop down menu that appears, go to Find and click on it.
7.type in Trojan STWOYLE and press enter.
8.In the right hand panel select the value or values that appear by clicking on each and right click and click on Delete, one at a time. Ensure that you delete only the Trojan STWOYLE files and folders and nothing else.
9.Once this is done, go back to edit and this time click on Find Next.
10.Type in Trojan STWOYLE once again in the dialog box and hit Enter.
11.Once again select the values that appear and delete them one by one.
12.Continue doing this till all the values of Trojan STWOYLE are deleted.
13.Once the Find Next delivers no results, it means that all the values have been removed.
14.Exit Registry Editor and reboot

This will have resolved your issue successfully.

PS,

When your problem is solved, I would appreciate your choosing this as the Best Answer.

First go to the control panel & then go to your system folder, click on the 'system restore' tab .when that comes up put a check in the box that says 'turnoff system restore' -don't panic,it won't hurt your pc.Once that's off make sure your anti virus is up-to-date.Then run the program. When you are done.Run your spyware program. When your pc is done being cleaned out you go back & turn on your system restore by unchecking the box.
See alot of viruses will move & duplicate into another folder & change it's name & litterally 'hide' from some anti-virus programs. That's why they are hard to get rid of.But if you turn off system restore they can't & so you should be able to delete it,put it in a virus vault,or immunize it with your anti-virus.
Personally I never liked Norton & use Grisoft AVG free anti-virus program & it is very compatable with almost all programs. Also Spybot search & destroy is a good spyware app. to use too & both are free.Good Luck

hello, it would be easier to tell you how to remove that trojan horse if you told it's name. i'm sure that norton scan showed you some label like "you are infected by aaaaaa trojan" or something. here what you can do. go to http://www.2-spyware.com, enter trojan name into search field, and you will get detailed manual removal instructions.

Have you turned off System Restore? Try that, and run AVG Anti Spyware in Safe Mode.
Before attempting to remove malware you must switch off System Restore as back up files will be hiding in there, and it will just restore itself. Go to Start - programs - accessories - system tools - system restore.
Run your anti virus and anti spyware in Safe Mode. To get into Safe Mode repeatedly press the F8 key after the bios screen loads but before Windows loads. You'll know if you made it because the screen will be at 800 x 600 and your pc will be slow.

Then beef up your security. Its easier to prevent malware getting on to your sytem in the first place rather than trying to remove it.

The Windows firewall doesn't stop malware on your pc from dialling out. Zone Alarm firewall is free for personal use and stops unwanted incoming and outgoing traffic. You choose which programs are allowed to access the internet. It's fairly easy to use and updated regularly.

Instal both these web browsers, turn off javascript on one and use that browser for vising unknown websites. They don't support Active X so thats one less way for problems to get on your pc.

Spywareblaster works with Internet Explorer and Firefox. It won't uninstall spyware that is already on your pc, but it will prevent hijacks and other malicious changes to your browser.

You can also download Microsofts free Windows Defender from the official Microsoft site, and the Malicious Software Removal Tool.

Remember to update and run all of you anti malware programs at least once a week.

If that doesn't work then you may need specific removal instructions; for that we'd need to know the name of the trojan.

You can't get rid of trojans. The best thing you can do is to reinstall your version of windows again. Backup all of your files onto a cd or memory stick. I had one of them and i had to reinstall windows.
