well, if your sister in law has gifted u a red hand bag what you can do is wait for an opportunity so that you can utilize the same. Maybe on some occasion you can wear a red outfit and then this bag can come in handy.

treat that as a valuable since it came from your sister. if you dont feel like using it, just keep it in your closet. You never know someday you might have to wear something that matches the hand bag!
