Haha, never mind those questions. However, can anybody instead tell me what was Hester's internal rebellion?

I haven't read it in over a year, so I can't remember everything. But, especially in response to your question about comparing Pearl to the brook in the forest, I am assuming the brook is wild and free, like Pearl. She has no constraints on her life and is very much free to do as she likes. She is free-spirited and leads a natural life, I think Pearl is referred as something...maybe "elf-like"??? I can't remember what it was exactly though.

Good luck. It is a VERY interesting and good book once you know what is going on. See what you can find online by googling it.

I'm editing my answer in response to the one before mine: I I am pretty sure Hester she did not struggle to identify Pearl's father. I think her struggle was with herself. Dimsdale was the one who struggled with his secret of being the father. I think Hester blamed herself more and was struggling to accept herself and her child. She had to deal with the shame and humiliation that society put upon her.

It's been a while since I've read that book and it was a struggle for me to finish it. I'm going to take a guess and say that Hester's internal struggle was whether or not to reveal the identity of her baby's daddy.
