1. First of all, she shouldn't wear the sandals till the blisters have healed, or they will burst and be extra sore. If they already have, she should put some antiseptic cream to heal them, and not cover the till they are dry.
2. for the sandals, there are shoe softener sprays that she can get from shoe shops which she can spray on the tight areas to soften the leather so it doesn't rub as much. The stuff is sprayed on till the leather is damp, and then she wears the shoe/sandal until it dries. This helps a lot.
3. When she is doing that, Scholl moleskin helps too. she can cut the moleskin in different sizes to cover the areas that rub against the leather, especially while the leather is softening. She should keep the moleskins on till she is sure the leather is soft enough not to rub.
4. Finally, like all new shoes, she should wear them for a short period of time, and gradually increase time in order to minimize the rubbing while her feet get accustomed to the sandal/shoe.

some nice stores like saks will break in the shoes for you, but be warned they can tend to stretch them out a little. till then offer her foot massages, you'll definitly get points for that

All shoes need to bed in, you wear them now and again to avoid blisters.
Take her aside and explain this
