my guy did an apprenticeship with an engineering firm which he is still working for. he finshed his apprentice ship in the summer and they wont put him up to full wage even though he has more qualifications that most of the old boys working in there ( he is currently on more than minimum for his age, but is on about £3.00/Hr less than everyone else). i know its a lot to do with experience. but he is a hard worker and punches out more jobs than most of the whole team put together. what can he do to make the bosses see sense?

Its a family run company and its very clicky. but he is reluctant to leave because all his friends are there and stuff, and there isnt much work nearby in this field due to the fact he doesnt drive.

Help?

I think it's time your man moved on to another job..Loyalty nowadays means nothing it's a thing of the past .Tell him to get his driving licence and take his skills to a company that appreciates him.

Good luck ..

that doesn't sound like mistreatment at all, I'm sure it's a fairly common practice throughout industry.

You don't say what he does for a living or how old he is but the "older" guys will also be being paid for experience, which they may or may not use.

He has a couple of options, learn to drive, then go sell himself to another boss, or he can sit it out, maybe for a year in the hope that during the next round of pay rises it all gets sorted out.

Bear in mind that the employer has already paid for him to do that apprenticeship, now they want a little of something back

Because many companies are corrupt. It's not about moral ethics, it's about money and power. And if your husband doesn't want to fall to the darkside and get into the clicks with the fakeness, he's gonna have a tough time. Integrity is frowned upon in society today.

I'm in a similar situation. I work on other things on the side with hopes of earning a living off of it over working for unfair nonsense in the future.

I don't really call that mistreated. Lets see he works with all his friends, it is easy to get to, they are providing training and he can look forward to a raise and it is the best place around to work. Why should he invest in the cost of a vehicle and insurance. I think you are pushing him into something he knows is not smart. He needs time on the job and experience it sounds like he can get it there.

He is still new there, to the people that have been working there longer than he has , it is considered an insult for the new guy to get paid just as much even though he does a excellent job. Give him time and they will give him his raise that he deserves

Many companys are set up to make big money and the way they do that is by stepping on everyone else. Its **** yes, It sucks yes but its the way the companys work they are out for themselfs not for the employee. That is why we have laws to stop them proper boneing us, but unfortunately its what happens.

How does he know he is on £3 hr less than everyone else?. Is there more for him to learn where he is, if so then stick at it and if the money is sufficient don't worry about it.

Get some driving lessons.

Age previous device of discrimination will in no way replace. There are establishments for lodging *****, yet i could desire to remind you, those establishments are funded by using the employers. So think of two times. in case you won't be able to win them connect them.

Sounds like this is the way of the company, he should let them know he is unhappy, he should plead poverty whenever possible, but look for other work secretly.

this sounds harsh, but he's letting them do it by staying for silly reasons and not getting a drivers' license.
