You need to be a member of a union to use a union representative. You can ask for advice from them, but their advice will not be binding. Look at your employee contract, if you feel that you a justified grievance, you can contact an attorney that specializes in employment law. This can be very expensive, and if you are not currently in a union you could lose your job for seeking legal counsel.

Nikos nikos,
All previous answers are good, but the exception is if you have a grievance with your Union Steward; in which case he has a boss in the Union to whom you can apply.
Generally, as my question suggests, most employees (even junior managers) are better off in a Trades Union as it gives the underdog a voice other than that of the Manager. "Good" managers tend to try to be "fair" to employees as long as it suits the Company, but as soon as Company interests are threatened they all stand shoulder to shoulder and cane the managed group.
When proceeding a grievance get PLENTY of advice from those around you before making your move. Unions tend to elect sensible people as reps and get rid of them if they arn't sensible quite quickly. A union can also get you free legal advice and you can talk to your rep anytime.
Be careful to ask your IMMEDIATE colleagues in the workplace if they think that you have a case before proceeding to make sure its not just the way that you see things.
Good luck with your grievance, Nikos

No one basically your on your own. Unions seem to want to sell you insurance and other related things these days.
If Aurthur Scargill had been a likeable person we would still have unions. Unfortunately he came over as a trouble maker and people distrusted them. I,m in a union and would urge as many people to join one.
The more people that join maybe they can become a force to be reckoned with again

They may never officially fire you as it is not a legal requirement. You seem literate so I'm confident that you have figured out that you no longer have a job. Call it what you want. You shouldn't wait much longer before going to the labor board. Call the company tomorrow and inform them that if you don't have a check Saturday for akl the hours worked you are filing a complaint Monday morning
