Where are the taxes being spent? It's a matter of public record and anyone can ask to see the accounts. The reason why they cook the books much of the time is no one ever asks. There is a dirty little secret about fundraisers. Very little of the money collected actually goes to the cause for which it's intended. A huge percentage goes into the pockets of the fundraisers themselves. That's why it's such a lucrative profession. So ask to see the numbers. By law they have to show 'em to you. How much do they keep? 80%? 90%? There is plenty of money for your kid's school. It's just being siphoned off by parasites. Just for grins and giggles, count the number of administrative positions in the school district hierarchy. Ask exactly what these people do? Why are all these people making over 100 grand a year and for doing what? There's your answer. The more money the school district gets, the more administrators they hire. Actually teaching your kid anything is a byproduct of what they do. An afterthought. They are there for themselves, first, last, and always. Make a hobby out of it. Create a story board and put it on an easel and take to the next PTA meeting. And don't give the fundraisers a stinking dime.

And a very nice looking lady you are Melanie. I have 2 friends that are school teachers, and they get so frustrated when they have to reach into their own pockets to buy things for their classes when they aren't provided. There is no excuse for it other then mismanagement of funds. We are giving more to education then ever before. I had the numbers written down but can't find them right now. The bureaucracy is taking most of it. There are way to many of them with their hands out. The money just never reaches where it is is needed most, in the class rooms. We decided to take our kids out of public school and into home schooling a friend is doing. We live near Fresno CA. The last straw was when our 10 year old daughter came home complaing that they stoped the dodge ball playoffs they were having to watch some silly play that travels from middle school to middle school put on by the folks from planned parent hood. I asked her about it and she said it was so stupid, it was about this princess that was supposed to marry the prince but she was in love with her hand maiden Veronica. After I picked my face up off the floor I called the school and they said yes it was a play to help children acccept alternative life styles as equal. I didn't say anything just took them both out and put them in our friends home school.I am not a prude but just don't think it's the schools duty or right to take on the task of teaching 10 year olds about sex. Maybe I'm not "progressive" enough but that's just me (and my wife)

Look UP. The money goes to top administrators. Whenever school boards are asked to cut budgets, they cut direct care staff, sports and music. I had a kid in special ed and I was constantly made to feel that I was costing the school its new roof or whatever. But the problem is pork, not little kids. teachers spend huge amounts out of pocket each year on supplies for their classrooms.
