For film, which do you prefer, digital or film?

I'm told theres a huge difference, but i can't notice one. I tried watching the new star wars films as an example of digital, but those films are so full of digital effects and blue screen that you wouldnt be able to tell anyways.

I prefer film for live action and digital for anything involving more special effects or animation than live action. I think although digital probably has a lot more flexibility in terms of quality, it's so much more worthy of admiration to see people actually reading light meters and pulling a team together to make impossible schedules.

The newer Star Wars films were entirely digital. The live actors were "filmed" using digital cameras, allowing easier blending with the digital backgrounds etc.

Personally, as long as the film is good fun and I enjoy it and the popcorn isn't stale I'm quite easily pleased and tend not to think about the processes used to make the film. A bit like my car, I don't care how it all works inside - just as long as it works well.

PS. They tend to use green screens these days, not blue. Dunno why.

Digital quailty is better. You can notice the difference if you goto a screen that actually does digital projection. Just because the movie is shot in digital doesn't mean the projection will be shown digital usally they use film

In order to see the difference on television, you need an HDTV. If you saw these movies in theaters and could not tell the difference, then perhaps the reason is because you saw them in a theater with an analog projector.

digital films are basically clearer and brighter. film tends to be abit blurrer and sometimes, you may see lines running vertically down. its really your preference but i don't really bother much, ultimately, its the storyline that is most impt
